INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS EXCHANGE MOBILITY PROGRAMME

 

ISEM – International Student Exchange Mobility, which was initiated in 2010 is focusing on: International partnership & collaboration, exchange & mobility programme, customized & edutourism programme, as well as international visits at Universiti Kuala Lumpur (UniKL).

UniKL BRITISH MALAYSIAN INSTITUTE via UniKL International Office (UIO) has always been supporting and creating opportunities for local and international students to experience and broaden their education, skills and knowledge at an international level. UniKL students can apply to continue their studies at our partner universities through several modes available; i.e credit transfer, intra/internship exchange and research exchange programmes.

We also offer a place for any international students who would like to experience the study/work culture in Malaysia, the multitudes of cross-cultural activities and most importantly to be truly prepared in becoming a global professional under the guidance of our valued academics and selected courses.

 

INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS EXCHANGE MOBILITY PROGRAMME

Generally, ISEM may be performed in the following modes:

• Short-term mobility programme, with a minimum duration of 1 week, which is defined as 5 activities days and a maximum duration of 3 months (90 days).
• Full-Semester mobility program, with a minimum duration of 3 months (short semester) and a maximum of 2 full semesters, consecutively.

 

CREDIT TRANSFER

Full-Semester Academic Mobility Programme

UniKL offers the International Exchange Programme to expose students to the best of international community, cultures, and practices. Students are placed at their chosen (host) university from UniKL list of partners.

A student is enrolled in an academic programme (taking subjects) at a partner university, with a minimum duration of one semester and maximum of two full semesters consecutively.

 

Outbound

Full-Semester academic mobility program, with a minimum duration of 3 months (short semester) and a maximum of 2 full semesters (12 months).

 

Transferable credits

• Undergraduate Program

Maximum number of credits per semester; 18 credits (equivalent to 30 ECTS per semester)

• Postgraduate Program

15 credits (equivalent to 25 ECTS credits per semester)

 

WHEN TO APPLY?

All ISEM programmes are open all year long depending on the mode of study the students would like to apply. Please check with your Academic Coordinators and International Partnership Coordinator for enquiries.  

Short term mobility – Applicant may apply based on annually offered promotional activities.

Long term mobility – Applications are open throughout the year.

 

Date of application for International semester:

31 March (For Autumm/ Fall Semester at Host University)

31 August (For Spring Semester at Host University)

 

# Important notice; ISEM will not be available for students undertaking FYP1 and FYP2 at UniKL.

 

ELIGIBILITY

Full semester outbound mobility is open for student studying Diploma or Bachelor program and have completed two semesters at UniKL BMI with CGPA 2.0 and above.

 

FINANCIAL IMPLICATION

Financial implication to applicants for ISEM programme depends on the individual expenses and daily living cost of the country/host university. This also applies to the type of study mode chosen by the applicants. Students are advised to do the survey through partner universities official websites to prepare for additional costs such as insurance, transport and off campus accommodation.

#Important notice; Malaysian students applying to study abroad are required to apply and pay for a student visa as stipulated by Malaysian government.

1. MARA (Students who obtained CGPA 3.75 and above are qualified to apply for funding from MARA, subjected to approval)

INTERNSHIP MOBILITY PROGRAMME

UniKL offers the Internship Mobility Programme for students to complete their internship/intra at their chosen partner (Host) university.

A student is attached to a division/ department/ section/ unit at a partner university under the supervision of a supervisor for a minimum duration of one semester.

 

Outbound

• Internship Mobility Programme students are placed under supervision at the host university with a duration of one semester or up to 6 months.

 

PROJECT/ RESEARCH MOBILITY PROGRAMME

A student is attached to a research project under the supervision of a project supervisor for a minimum duration of one semester.

Outbound

• Post graduate students with their supervisor may apply to conduct a joint research at our partner universities.

 

CUSTOMIZED/INTERNATIONAL SEMESTER PROGRAMME.

UniKL applicants may also apply to an INTERNATIONAL/SUMMER/SPRING SEMESTERS PROGRAMME when it is available/offered by our partner universities.

Promoted outbound programmes are emailed to all UniKL students’ official email and available in UniKL BMI portal.
