At the beginning of the establishment, Communication Technology Section at UniKL BMI began offering Diploma in Telecommunication Engineering programme since 2003 and until now. Then, started its Bachelor of Engineering Technology (Hons) in Data Communication and Bachelor of Engineering Technology (Honors) in Mobile Communications programmes in July 2007. In 2017, both programs were then combined and renamed to Bachelor of Engineering Technology (Hons) in Telecommunication. In 2019, the Bachelor of Engineering Technology (Hons) in Telecommunication obtained approval from Ministry of Higher Education (MoHE) to change the name of the program to Bachelor of Telecommunication Engineering Technology with Honours (BTET). The new program was developed in response to the rapid increase in local and international demand for graduates with a solid technical knowledge in this fast moving field.
The programme were designed to prepare students to position themselves in the forefront of knowledge and technology skills for professional careers in various fields of Telecommunications. The programmes content include the basic knowledge of electrical, electronic and telecommunication systems, signal processing, signal reproduction in physical media and different communication networks. Recent advances in telecommunication industry such as 5G technology and IoT networking are also covered in both programme. Our programmes consist of a large practical component, at least 60% of the total weight of the credit is dedicated to the guided lab practice.
In addition, the Communications Network module for Bachelor student is customized based on the CISCO Network Academy framework.
